The Courage to Walk in Your Divine Calling

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Step into any new assignment, season, or responsibility, and you will almost certainly be met by a silent companion: fear. When Joshua was chosen to succeed Moses, he was stepping into the shoes of a giant. He was tasked with leading millions of people across Jordan into a land occupied by giants and fortified cities. God knew the weight of anxiety that rested on Joshua’s shoulders. That is why God did not just offer a suggestion—He gave a command: "Be strong and courageous." Notice the foundation of Joshua's courage. It was not based on his military experience, his talent, or the size of his army. It was based entirely on the promise of God’s presence: "for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." True biblical courage is not the absence of fear; it is the absolute confidence that God is present with you in the midst of what you fear. When God calls you to a task, He does not guarantee that the path will be easy, but He guarantees that you will never walk it alone. God is calling many of us to step out of our comfort zones—to lead in our families, step up in ministry, start new ventures, or stand against the tide of culture. Stop waiting for the fear to completely disappear before you move. Take the first step in obedience, knowing that the Almighty God goes before you. His presence is your power, His Word is your anchor, and His promise is your assurance of victory.
